Our Community
We believe the sharing of skills and knowledge leads to successful outcomes for student learning
We value community collaboration, contribution and consultation
Our school is situated within the township of Taupo on Rangatira Street and is a 5 minute walk to the AC Baths and Sports Arena. It was built in the mid-seventies and has seen a number of generations attend the school.
The community has a strong relationship with our school and are proud to announce that they had their schooling years at Mountview. We have a positive relationship with both Taupo-nui-a-Tia and Tauhara Colleges. The school continues today to foster a relationship with iwi and hapu and have been active in the Tuwharetoa Cultural Project.
We also have a Social Worker / Whanau Support Worker (SWIS - Social Worker in School) based at Mountview. The SWIS is available to help and support Mountview children and their whanau with any worries, issues or problems. Part of their role can be to assist in supporting adults in accessing community services or gaining information, advice and support for a worry or problem within the whanau, school or home environment. As well as information and advice, the SWIS also provides one-on-one sessions for children that require greater support to deal with an issue. The SWIS also implements programmes for groups of children within the school community which may be focused on friendships, making good choices or bullying. The SWIS service is FREE and run through Family Works Northern, participation is voluntary and anyone can make a referral. If you would like to discuss anything with the SWIS, or even just for a catch up, please make contact through the school office.
Our school is also home to Kea Street, Northern Health School, RTLB and Youthtown all important contributors to the community and we are proud that our hall is utilised by a number of community groups.
Taupo Kahui Ako
Sharing the learning and knowledge
Our school is an active member of the Taupo Kahui Ako - Community of Learning.
Through IES, our Community of Learning allows access to significant resources drawing on expertise of teachers who collaboratively work across and within our schools sitting in the rohe of Tuwharetoa. We are excited that we can work collaboratively to raise achievement for children in Taupo as they move along their education pathways.
